Adriatic Sea, slipways and harbours with crane

I want to trail my Dragonfly to the Adriatic Sea this summer. The boat shall be put in the water in the very north of Adriatic Sea, e.g. Venice (Venedig) area. Who did that before? Somebody out there who knows a suitable slipway for Dragonflies or a harbour with crane that charges reasonable prices?...

I don't know about the DF 25, but in my DF 800 (1998) the main hull is sandwich, too; except the bottom, which is massive to protect the hull in case of a grounding. You can see from inside if it is sandwich or massive, as sandwich is thicker. The lower part of the GRP is painted inside with white t...

Re: Boom Replacement Needed

For special parts I would recommend first to ask Quorning for an offer, they can send spare parts abroad (also large ones).

If they don't supply the boom anymore, I would ask if they can tell you the producer or type so you can surf on the internet for it.

Petrol tank. We have a 20 l tank on the platform behind the cockpit. As a reserve, we have a second 10 l tank stored in the cockpit locker. 20 l are for example needed to cross Kiel Canal (length approx. 100 km/54 sm, with our 8 HP two-stroke Yamaha, speed 4,5-5 kn). Except Kiel Canal, this is poss...

Our guideline: Four adults for a weekend, three for an extended weekend or up to a week (?), two unlimited. In the case of four people and a long trip, the restriction might be rather weight than volume. For our six-week trip from the Netherlands to Oslo and back (well, two people) we found that sea...

Is a dinghy really necessary on a DF 800? We never needed one. With 35 cm draft, the DF 800 is easy to beach. Sometimes, less is more (and faster).

We have a ceramic heater, 1500 W with a "low" stage, maybe 500 W. That's more than enough to heat cabin and cockpit under tent. Additionally, an Origo Heat Pal if we have no electricity. Like the cooker, it uses alcohol and can also be used as second hotplate, when put into the cockpit. It...

Shortly: 1. Fill the damaged parts on the front edge of the rudder with epoxy filler, e.g. International Watertite. 2. File it to the original form. 3. Paint it 3-5 times with an epoxy paint, e.g. International Gelshield 200. 4. Use antifouling, if needed (centerboard) International has very helpful...

Counting from arrival by car, we (two people with training) need two hours to assemble my DF 800 SW. Yes, you can slip the boat directly from the trailer afterwards. With some additional equipment, you can also set the mast yourself. However, we use a mast crane (15 min peparation, 15 min mast crane...
