Have fun with the new kayaks. Foam is most likely not necessary for plastic kayaks. Consider to make some way to fasten the kayak if the front of the kayak is not clamped in a fixed position underneath the store room floor.

Just a follow up on this old tread. The problem repeats itself every autumn, has to be condensation that causes this. I have now removed all isolation material, too difficult to dry it up.

It's an actual platform. I'll find a picture and put it in a separate post. It's a standard platform from a Swedish company, see this link: http://www.batsystem.se/databas/ShowGallerySingleItem.php?language=swe&image=Albin-Cumulus-Sjpg.jpg Quorning modified it a little I think. It makes it much ...

I always stand to one side of the ama platform when moving the kayak in or out of the ama. When it’s inside I turn it a little so the rudder is protected and pushes it with my foot until it is stuck underneath the PE foam under the store room. When doing this the kayak slides on the bigger PE foam. ...

We have been sailing around with two kayaks for three seasons now. Both are touring kayaks, not seagoing kayaks. One is a Coastrunner the other is a Neumann carbon kayak. The Coastrunner is 54cm wide and is easy to paddle; the other is 51cm wide so you need a little experience to use it. None of the...

Broken fitting in aka

For your information The fitting that feeds the backstay and fold out line into the aka on the port side broke two weeks ago. It was the weld between the plate and the "tube" that broke when the fold out line was tightened. Inspecting the other one on the starboard side showed a crack in t...

I also got permanently affixed blocks, but use two turning blocks that are possible to open. The reef 1 line can then be inserted into the blocks without removing the line from the affixed blocks for reef 1. Then I hook the snapshacles into reef 3.

Correct, I tested on my boat yesterday. When starting the engine the start battery is charged imidately. When the voltage is above a given value (I'm not sure of the value, could not observe all the time but something like 13.0 - 13.5V) the relay connects the battery systems together. You can hear i...

Hi Penry, Your conclusions are correct, the batteries are not bridged and the solar regulator only shows the voltage of the housing batteries (same on my boat). The problem could be related to the relay, the voltage sensor or a bad connection. The items behind the panel are: 50A fuse “Direct” is for...

That's ok, I'll try with some more information based on what I know about the electrics for the DF35. The battery parallel switch should connect the start battery in parallel with the other batteries if voltage is 12.6V or more, and the light should be on. If voltage is below 12.6V the start battery...

I do have a solar panel on deck and this is normally enough to charge the batteries during summertim...
