Hi Phil - I have the mast raising bits + a couple of homemade extras -you are welcome to take a look & measure -
Taking it slowly at first (extra pair of hands maybe reassuring) it should not be too sweaty.
I no longer have your email but can contact me via mocra guys or ad in for sale Chris

Mine also did this - quite dangerous at the time as I remember - Replaced with bolts, domehead nuts & a backing plate (washers) a bit of sikaflex for good measure.

bolt rope extrusion

Greetings -
Anyone know of a source for the aluminium extrusion that holds the bolt rope. Not actually for a Dragonfly so a similar profile ok -

Also anyone know what product the boltrope is on Df circa 2000

Thanks

Thanks steve - thats pretty much the plan - just trying to decide when - now would be best of course but by the time dropped mast, lifted boat out etc etc is going to muck a lot up this year.

movement ama pins

G'day all, just noticed movement around top of pins at the inboard pivot point. Bottom of pin is firm but (with rig & waterstays well tensioned) there is about 2-3 Mml of sideways movement where top of arm moves to & away from main hull. At the moment its a gentle gentle motion as boat rises...

Greetings I have been offered an 8hp mariner sail mate or sail power 30Kg any thoughts on suitability - I thought it would probably be ideal (1st choice would be a yam 8 longshaft but heavy, attractive to thieves & expensive) Am considering an 800 is quite a light boat no keel to drag etc & ...

As post below I had to find access to towing eye & ended up cutting a larger inspection hole around the water filler then refitting the filler cap in a stainless (will try to make a carbon 1 over winter) overlay if that explains it. Access to close to waterline would be pretty easy. The backing ...

Towing eye access

Greetings as ever, The trailer eye (U bolt on bow) has started to loosen - has anyone found best access to the inside of this ? I was planning on "beefing" it up with glass & a decent backing plate - if not already there & a larger bolt - Any experience I will try removing water fi...

Petrol tank

G'day all,

Tank currently in cockpit locker (underfloor) I believe/guess as originally designed. Though ventilated from above to a degree, there is no drainage & it is indirectly open to cabin. Anyone try any other location ? Transom seems most obvious. Any thoughts ?

Hydrofoils

As stated dont think the Dragonfly quite the right boat to modify- but the theory is very interesting. Good "production" start is to check out the Catri boats which utilise the principle. ~ Ingenious from Mr Eglais (Hope i got that right) They dont lift out in same way as Hydrocopter but p...

Gennaker/asymetric

I plan to fit a bowsprit & downwind sail smaller than standard spinnaker & was thinking 48 SqM sounded about right- Anyone have the luff & other dimms for DF 800 cruising ? Any thoughts & experience on size/cut of sail relative to wind speed & angle gratefully received. Thanks as...

New fore sails !

Good day, I was planning on adding (to 800 cruising) a bowsprit & an asymetric (snuffer or furler for 90 - 170 Deg) this year but reckon my Genoa probably needs replacing as 2nd repair to roach is now needed. Any thoughts on swapping to a high aspect jib for stronger winds + the few races we do ...

Thanks Anders - I heard from surveyor that this bend is normal - He put forwad jumpers above his backstay & that cured it !! Also experimenting with rotation & diamond stays have minimalised it as you say - will cary on.

Thanks -I didnt like the look of it ! The back stays were @ middle recommended setting (ie on winch by hand) - the diamond stays are tight (firm but not bar tight) will experiment

Top of 800 mast bends ?

Hard on wind & probably a little overpowered admittedly; the mast above backstays was visably bent to leeward - is this correct ?
1st reef cured it.
Thanks

Ok thanks everyone Ill see what is available in UK that is similar - worst case will use pvc or hyperlon patch glued top & bottom which will stop any more wear / or damage spreading & I guess would add some strength.

Thanks again - Chris

Repair / replace tramp netting

Just started winter lay up & have a small area of the trampoline (approx 2cms circle) where the outer (White) surface of netting has worn away exposing the fibre beneath. This also looks a little worn/frayed but this might just be nature of the fibre. - Anyone know how repairable this is ? (Uk b...
