Centreboard downhaul problems.

Many people seem to have a problem with lowering the centreboard, and often attribute this to the lines jamming between the board and the case. Recently when replacing my downhaul, I found that there is another reason that causes this problem. If the mast rotates slightly, the foot of the mast can p...

A quick update for anyone who's interested. We found that the leak was around the fitting in the tank at the outlet. This is a plastic fitting bedded in sealant, but the seal wasn't 100%. We discovered this by removing the tank top, emptying the tank and mopping it dry. There was a lot of water in t...

Leaking water tank

For a long while now we have had a slow leak from our water tank. We realised this when we checked the forward collision compartment and found a large amount of fresh water in it. The most likely source of the leak is the point where the outlet pipe joins the tank. There is no sign of a leak into th...

We had this exact problem a while back - see here http://www.dragonfly-trimarans.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=430. I can report that the repair has held up well. As reported in the other thread, I drilled out the old bolt to about 25mm then hit something really hard. You really need a drill press and a...

Rudder blade construction

A little while ago our 920 had a coming together with the bottom. We weren't going particularly fast, and the centreboard cleat tripped OK. However, the rudder cleat didn't, and the stainless steel eye bolt in the front of the rudder blade that takes the downhaul tackle sheared off. We sorted things...

Many thanks to those who have replied. I thought I would try the simplest solution first - flushing out the lock. I had an old plant spray bottle which I filled with warm soapy water and squirted most of it into the lock. And it worked! The lock isn't perfect, but at least I don't feel I am going to...

Hatch lock access

The hatch lock on our 920 was getting progressively stiffer last season and now has seized solid (fortunately in the open position so at least we can get in and out). The hatch garage panel which contains the lock is bedded in sealant of some kind but there are no obvious fixings. There doesn't seem...
