Re: True Beauty

I wonder if she is 2,55m wide with beams and floats taken off for easy transport over reasonable distance (marina -> home which is in my case only 5 miles). Weight would be in reach for a heavy 4x4. Anyhow, she truely is a nice one and I wonder what speed records Jens is going to break with these s...

Re: DF 32 - B category?

The DF32 seems to be a B category, unlike the 1000, which is A. This is not good news, is it? When I first received info on the boat it was indeed a B class, which is not good, but later on, some 2 months ago (I can't find Jens' email now) he said A, offshore, I hope so as I am begging on the stree...

Re: Dingies

Just wondering what you use for a dingy and how do you bring it along. Tow? Stow? Tie it on the stern? I've spoken with Steve B and he uses a couple inflatable kayaks and stows them in an ama. Thanks, TC On my DF1000#27 “L’Insolent” , I use "L'Insolinho" , a 1.8m dingy (which was up to th...

I will go to USA to check for some DF's. I had just mono all my l...

Thanks for the story! What did you use to charge batteries? Did you have a watermaker? I have used a 55W Solara solar panel for the first 5/6 days (we have only repaired the engine on the 6th day when the wind dropped completely after the Equator (1º S). No watermaker. 100 Lt on the tank and 80Lt o...

We've just came back from an excelent crossing with "L'Insolent". It took us just short to 10 days to cover th 1,305 NM from Mindelo (excellent and very well located marina), Cape-Verde (Cabo-Verde) to the paradisiac Noronha; and then 2 more days to Recife where I've left "L'Insolent&...

What are the main differences between the 10 and the 12? Just the 2 metres or while sailing is much different? I've tested the 9.2, it's amazing but it's not enough in living quality for ocean crossings.

An italian friend told me to use a thick copper wire from the basis of the mast till the water. Do you think this can be a temporary solution? I sail my DF100 on solo often even launching spi (up to 10KTS). Autohelm helps - I call him "Georges" (engine is "Albert"). One trick to make re-mooring easier is to tie an endless line (3 to 5 metre) to the buoy and to an empty floating big botle of water when you leave sailing....

DF1000 – how much load on the amas?

I know the politically correct answer: none or the least you can... However, if one has to cross the Atlantic taking extra fresh water, is it 50 litres on each ama too much? Where exactly would you place this water, centre or aft? Or would you try to keep it in the main hull? From Lagos to Porto San...

920 vs 1000

2 years later...: when you come on board from the pontoon through the bow you notice a big difference between both boats. The 920 is a racing dingy, amazing, the 1000, a small cosy house, still capable of reaching on genneker and main the speed of 19,5Kts. I don't understand why the DF oficial Webs...

Dear Sailors, I’m new to this forum; greetings to you All. I own DF 1000-27, L’Insolent, and I’ve just sailed her from Lagos, Portugal to Guinea-Bissau (where I’m based for the time being). Are there standard measures for the genneker? If I want to order one, what figures do I have to know? Is the f...
