Many thanks Mika, that's exactly what I needed. I noticed that your rudder head is fixed with 2 bolts screwed directly in the plate thread from the lower part. On mine I get only one bolt (the front one) tighted with a nut under the plate.. I think my system has been a bit modified, I have to figure...

rudder system

Since I own my boat (3 years) I noticed an important play in the rudder system. As I got many things to replace and improve first, I didn't pay to much atttention to this issue. It's time to get it right. I take note that: - I need to make a quarter turn on my steering wheel to start a change direct...

Thanks Mika , excellent job, very helpful as I'm filling a MOCRA rating application for my boat and some DF1000 specs were missing to me. For this matter I'm wondering which is the "real" weight of my boat, as yours seems to be pretty much in the same configuration as mine, do you have som...

My DF 1000 is now equiped with a 29hP D1-30 Volvo with a 3 blades Flexofold 16x11. I am fully satisfied with this improvment, engine run much more smoothly and quietly and the speeds recorded with a normal sailing loaded boat, with the center board fully up and calm water are : 6,1 kts at 2000 rpm 7...

I use a light 3,2 kg fortress for daily mooring, stored permanently in the forward storage. I have also a 10kg Kobra for longer mooring which isn't the best choice, althought it's an excellent anchor, because it doesn't fit good in the anchor fitting and so have to store it in the aft storage. I wil...

I got the answer from Quorning, now the bolts use the same system of the 920, bolts are pushed in from the top and the side locking screw is then secured with loctite.

I feel more confident with this improvement.

thanks to all for your helpful answers. I ordered oversized 18mm bolts to quorning (original are 16mm). Nicolai told me I can not use a regular drill bit when it can not centre in a oval hole. Normally they make the holes bigger with a rotating file and a hand file. Works will be done this winter wh...

I expect to change my swingwing wires and asked quorning to supply me new ones. Mika I'm interested in your project, but I'm afraid a carbon wheel is too much expensive for me.
Do you have any idea of the cost and delay?
What will be the wheel diameter? Will the design allow to keep and mount the same autopilot?

yes I can believe you, the original wheel is quite ridiculous and really unconfortable when you stay hours steering in windy conditions.

I found on Ebay a 81 cms Lewmar Commodore wheel but I'm wondering if it will fit on the current steering axis. Do you have any idea, I'm quite far from my boat?

re-motorization

I'm seriously thinking of having change my old Volvo 2020B . It's really noisy, loses some oil, and definitely not enough powerful for a choppy headwind condition. Furthermore, most of control instruments doesn't work anymore (tachymeter, alarms,etc..). As my game field is now the Méditerranean sea,...
