Paul, I can't claim any expertise with the DF800 wrt to tacking in chop as I have only had her for a year. My experience with A-Class cats supports your suggestions of easing the main as you go round, plus the other things such as looking for a flat spot to tack, getting up plenty of speed before go...

Hi Paul,
Sorry for the slow reply- hope you have solved your problem by now (and didn't encounter the resident croc).
Simple answer to your question re the hatch- I didn't do it and had assumed all DF's had one!
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Paul, My boat has a perspex hatch in the top of the board case which when unscrewed gives you just enough room to reach down to the top of the board where the line is fixed. Certainly a lot easier than dropping the board out. Hope that helps, Cheers, Andy Please click on any of the photos to see ...

DF 800 Mk2 main halyard

My main halyard has some wear and needs replacing. The DF manual suggests a 40m length of 8mm Spectra. This seems very long- the mast is 11, mast to cockpit 3m would suggest 22+3+5= 30m should be sufficient. Am I missing something here? I don't want miles of spare string in the cockpit, and also don...

Hi Jeff,
If you are in the Plymouth area you are welcome to look at my Mk2. I have been absolutely delighted with her in the 2 weeks we have been on the water.

Mk 2 centre board

Hi, My Mk2 (no 91) has a problem with the centre-board down-haul. The board is splitting where the line passes into the board before being knotted off. This is makng the board hard to get down as it is rubbing on the centre board case. I need to get access to this part of the board in order to bolt ...

Thanks Christine, I actually have my own one now! I bought a German boat (Ultrabreit) and towed it back in the dark winter. Can't wait to get afloat......
Cheers,
Andy

May I look at your DF 800?

Hi, I am thinking of getting a DF800 Mk2, but having looked at the "for sale" section it looks as if I may end up travelling to buy one. It would be very helpful to have a quick look over one before jumping on a plane. I would be very grateful if someone was prepared to let me spend 10 min...
