Simple answer to your question re the hatch- I didn't do it and had assumed all DF's had one!

Hi Paul, My boat has a perspex hatch in the top of the board case which when unscrewed gives you just enough room to reach down to the top of the board where the line is fixed. My main halyard has some wear and needs replacing. The DF manual suggests a 40m length of 8mm Spectra. This seems very long- the mast is 11, mast to cockpit 3m would suggest 22+3+5= 30m should be sufficient. Am I missing something here?
