Thanks for the comment. Things develop here in the coastal waters of the north sea sometimes unforecasted. Currents of up to 4 knots paired with sudden changes of wind create this unpleasant sea even sometimes at beauf. 4. in the river delta of the Elbe. Spending about 15 yrs of my life at sea I wou...

Backstay tension

Good day, even so owning a DF800R Swing Wing already some years, realised during choppy offshore conditions that my knowledge in regards to backstay tension is rather self-invented than based on facts. During said event, we had short, high waves giving a lot of upside down energy to the Amas. There ...

Tohastu news

So, I had the" Tohatsu 6PS Longshaft Sailpower" for the spring and it was on the Elbe in choppy conditions too short. I just sold it to get the ultra long version. The motor is for 6 PS very strong. Calm conditions 7 knots... Rough conditions 6 knots I was impressed from the motor as I did...

Just received a kind mail from Jens that she is 2,70 m without beams and amas.
Up to 3m I can get an excemption here in Germany. So I could probably bring her home for the winter (dismounted of course).

True Beauty

I wonder if she is 2,55m wide with beams and floats taken off for easy transport over reasonable distance (marina -> home which is in my case only 5 miles). Weight would be in reach for a heavy 4x4. Anyhow, she truely is a nice one and I wonder what speed records Jens is going to break with these sl...

Many thanks for your reply. Bo was so kind to add the picture.
I'm a bit uncertain if we are talking about the same blocks. I'm talking about the two black ones and not the two white ones in the picture.

Many thanks for an update.

Unknown Blocks inside my DF800R Mast

Good day, As I'm going to put up the mast on my DF 800 shortly for the first time (I bought is dismantled) I'm wondering what the two blocks inside the lower part of the mast are for. Are they maybe a guidance for the Main Jib Halyard. Makes not really sense to me... http://www.dragonfly-trimarans.o...

Good day Nenesse, Believe the matter is more often an issue as we would believe, as most owners would not like to post such issue, as they are afraid not being able to sell their boat. Warm freshwater (as commonly known) seems to have a serious impact on our DF's. After a surveyor, whom was ordered ...

Many thanks Paul. I now bought a 6HP Tohatsu long Shaft "Sailpower" 4stroke and hope it was the right choice.

I will revert after next summer with a feedback on the performance.

New DF 800 on the river Elbe/Germany

Good day, I just bought a DF800 Racing from 2003 and now would like to say hello to the DF community. The boat is located close to Stade/Hamburg on the river Elbe/Germany and I would be very thankful to meet/get in contact with other DF 800 owners, especially in northern Germany. Greetings Ortwin Ju...

Long or Ulta Long Shaft for outboard engine for DF 800

Good day, I just bought a DF800 from 2003 and I'm now trying to find a good outboard engine. Presently I have the Tohatsu MFS6C SailPro 6 HP in mind which is available with a long or ultra long shaft. As the boat is still equipped with the standard lifting plate somebody might now if a ultra long sh...
