Re: Pivot Bolts on Amas. Replacing

Hi Mark

I needed advice for folding mechanism from Quorning recently.
They asked me to send some pics to analyze the problem.

I got quick a valuable answer.

I used the Mail-adress aftersales@dragonfly.org.

Re: Window seals

Hei Martin I had the same problem with my DF920e. I demounted the windows, removed the rubber gaskins and applicated Sikaflex 552 to fix the window in the frame. I will also use sikaflex to glue the window to the hull. Before appliying Sikaflex on the aluminium frame, you have to put primer on the a...

Hi Wombat

Weight of ama

I removed the amas of my DF920e with the help of 1 person.
The amas were heavier than expected and the center of gravity is quite in front, about 2/3 from stern.

tape drive carbon -problems

I had north Sails 3Di Sails with carbon/Kevlar laminated sails. Great sails for performance and trim, poor for durability. It is no big problem for the moment, but it is the beginning of the end of life of the sail. If not repaired quickly, water will ingress and the delamination will increase. Take...

Dear Fritz
Thanks for your comment.
I solved the problem radical: cut out the whole inner ceiling. I will replace it wit a insulation, for the places where further access is needed, I will cover, so in future I do not have to remove the whole ceiling by water ingress.

Ask Qourning after sale. They know best how the ama has to be reinforced. Can you post some pictures from the Damage? Maybe an advice can be given.

This is a severe damage. Did you ever run aground sideways?
To repair it properly it needs reinforcements rectangular to the box. My advice go to a well renowned boatbuilder and ask for a quote. It will be expensive to repair, but then you will be on the safe side.

rotten wood in fore-cabin

The Plywood in front of the cabin has rotten (black). I guess, the water is entering from anchor locker. There, at the bottom, on each side is a tube laminated where the line for furling the headsail on one side and the headline for the genacker are lead through. Silly, this is the deepest point of ...

Removing headliner in toilet

The handrails on main hull are leaking. The right side I managed to demount after removing the plywood cover. But on starbord, the foremost screw is hidden by the inner headliner. I tried to remove the headliner without destroying it. But I have any clue how to succeed. Has anybody removed the headl...

Hi guys, although the only way to keep the prop under water under all conditions is to switch to an inboard diesel :-) I would recommend the 15 hp ultralong shaft motor for safety reasons: due to electric tilt and starter even my wife ( 69 yrs, 46 kg) is able to operate the motor . she did not mana...

Weight of ama on DF920

Does anybody know the weight of one ama from a DF 920 Extreme? In manual is noted it needs two persons to mount or demount the amas; preferably three. Considering a normal person can hold and lift about 30 - 40 kgs, I estimate 80 kgs for one ama. Or is it more and I have to ask Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Outboarder on a DF920e - 10 oder 15 hp

Hi Folks This summer I was out by 30kts wind and 1-1.5 m waves. I had to learn the outoboarder Honda 10 was to weak to hold the boat in wind. Also I had to go out of the cockpit to tilt the motor up - nasty. Electric tilt would solve this problem - this option I found only in Honda 15. My questions:...

Function of mast pin

Has the pin in front of the mastplate another function than for rising and lowering the mast? When I grind in or out the amas, the mast is poorly stabilized by the loose backstays, the mast is wobbling. I think, when the bolt is placed for sailing, the mast is laterally fixed by the bolt on the cabi...

Well, I've have had my lesson with the adjustment of the tension of the waterstays last week. I had the impression the Amas were swinging too much in moderate waves. So I shortened the waterstays on one side for two turns - far too much, how I had to learn: Grinding out the Ama, I gave too much load...

I think, I will also repair with a carbon sock. So I fix The broken tiler just to give form, then I pull a carbon Sock over and laminate it. I guess the repaired tiler will be more solid than the old version.

Thx for support

Cabin height?

Hi
I am considering to buy a DF920.
What is the height of the main cabin?
I am 1.80m and so it should be at least 1.85m for some comfort.

Thanks for answering.
