That’s a lot of output, and a lot of weight and bulk on a boat the size and payload of a DF920. What equipment do you want to run? My 5 bed house rarely gets up to 4Kw of use. Would a smaller, lighter unit not meet your needs? Dear Martin I want to be independent for 4 days and be shure to load m...

Sounds exactly the same as the 920. My pin is bent too, probably from clouting something with the rudder. Incidentally, whilst ashore, my rudder downhaul blocks capsised in the tube, and then made a break for freedom! Luckily I spotted it before relaunch. Replaced the tube with a bit of carbon pipe ...

New propeller fitted and tested. Original prop 9 1/4 x10. New prop 10 x 5. Polastorm. Large area zero camber blades, the improvement is immediately obvious. The shallower pitch enables the engine to rev out, reversing and stopping are transformed. 2 way GPS speed 7.5 kn, and she’s filthy, I reckon...

We’ve got a 15hp Honda. Except for it having the wrong prop, soon to be rectified, it’s great. And surely, with decent batteries, a solar panel and engine alternator, the power trim will be pretty reliable. Like many here, we find the power trim enables the boat to be operated by ladies who sail...

Re: Weight of ama on DF920

Does anybody know the weight of one ama from a DF 920 Extreme? In manual is noted it needs two persons to mount or demount the amas; preferably three. Considering a normal person can hold and lift about 30 - 40 kgs, I estimate 80 kgs for one ama. Or is it more and I have to ask Arnold Schwarzenegge...

Window seals

The rubber seals for our windows are deteriorationg, they bulge, and the surface rubs off easily, both inside and out. I’d like to get them changed before they leak. Has anyone replaced their seals, I am faced with the prospect of tak8ng a window out simply to find what seal profile has been used....

We launched last week. I can now extend and the amas mostly by hand. Need to winch to tension the tramps, and it’s easier to winch the last part of foldinh, but a transformation. I think it’s almost entirely due to the change of line for the folding system.

We’ve found the exact same problems with our recently bought DF920. I think the problems have existed for a long time, and that for this reason, the previous owner never used the tank. I took the lid off, cleaned the tank, which was pretty filthy, let it dry, and re coated the inside with water ba...

Re: Fold/unfold - hard work

The item was discussed in 2008, but I haven’t find an post answering my concern. On my DF920E it is nearly impossible to winch out the Amas without distorting the winch handle! Yes, I checked: no yammed lines, backstays loose, secure pin released… I guess too much or too loose waterstays. The p...

Fest Chiara Thanx for answer. I think, I will also repair with a carbon sock. So I fix The broken tiler just to give form, then I pull a carbon Sock over and laminate it. I guess the repaired tiler will be more solid than the old version. Plus, of course, the boat will look at least 5kn faster with...

Re: Broken Tiler

On my trip yesterday my tiler cracked. Happily it was near the harbor. Now I need replacement. Does someone a drawing or plan with measures for the tiler of a DF920(E). I think tilers of all 920 are same. Thx for support My tiller is in a poor state, many holes drilled for stuff no longer in the sa...

The poll seems to have expired, I’d be voting ‘No, but might try it’. My wife and I are going through the extremely painful and messy process of removing what appears to be 20 years of antifoul from Chiara. The bostyard took a look and quoted us £2.5k, so we got on with it. 20 litres of Strip...

Re: Insurance

In preparation for purchase of a secondhand DF, I have been investigating insurance. I am in the UK. One insurer has quoted at what I feel is a reasonable price, but 3 have declined to quote, even when I excluded racing. Has anyone else struggled to get insurance, or is it only me? Richard Hi Richa...
