Rub Strip

Been doing some fiberglass repair. Both ama decks were damaged just aft of the forward aka pivot, essentially under the rub-strip. These appear to be old wounds and the starboard one appeared to have been poorly repaired previously.

Questions:
Anyone experienced damage in the same area? Any advice, like the pivot bolt is too tight or not tight enough? Seems obvious to avoid rough water with the amas folded.

What is the 'rub-strip' material? What I mean by rub-strip is the 1/8 inch x 2 inch quarter circle plastic screwed into the ama on which the aka rides while pivoting. It reminds me of ENHE. Anyone replaced this material? What did you use?

Any other advice?
