Replacing Wing wires

I am replacing the wire that runs through the aka arm on my 920. The manual shows 6mm wire, but this is not readily available at my location. (USA is still in it's infancy)

Will 0.25" wire pass over the block at the end of the arm? I would check by my boat is quite a ways from me, so I am hoping someone will know.

Also, there is a washer welded to the open end of the swage fitting that is at the end of the wire nearest the internal block. If gives the fitting a "bugle" look where the wire enters the fitting. Can anyone comment on the purpose of this washer?

Yes you can use 1/4" wire in place of 6mm. It must be 7x19 strands.

You can use a mechanical (swageless) fitting to put the new wire in place, after it has been run through the sheave at the end of the cross beam. The purpose of the washer is to prevent the swage fitting from entering the sheave opening.
