Bike onboard

Has anyone brought a bike onboard, something like a Bromton folding bike (
http://brompton.com) or some other folding bike? Do they fit in the amas? Do they rust? Think it can be a nice thing to bring on a cruise. Coming to new harbors, a bike is a nice thing to have.
Any experience?

We have folding Dahon bikes. When I had the DF920 I bought a Dahon Piccolo (which has 16" wheels). My newest bike purchase (with the DF1200) was a Dahon Mariner (20" wheels, more stainless components, including the chain and sprockets). We use both and they ride surprisingly well.
I keep them folded in the ama. They can rust because it's humid in there, but I keep them well lubricated and wipe down with WD-40 or similar when cleaning. The Dahon bikes use aluminum alloy rims so that's not an issue. You should avoid getting a bike with steel rims, as it won't last.
It is very nice to be able to get around on a bike when we visit ports. It also helps with shopping for food and other items.

I have been looking to do the same thing and researched folding bikes extensively. The only bike in the uk that fits is the Brompton. I actually took a pair of demonstrators to the boat to check. They fitted comfortably in the large locker below the cockpit in my 920 and if you remove the telescopic Saddle post, also into the ama's. Am going to make some waterproof bags to store them in. You can also get electric bike conversions for them.

Found a bike that both fitted into the ama and my budget.

I borrowed one and tried to get it down in the ama - and it just slipped down!

It is a small bike. It does not fold like a bromton, it is not the same quality, but the price is less than 20% of a bromton.
So next summer there will be biking tours!

That looks cool, have you tried it? It will fit in any locker!
But thinks it can be hard to use it on gravel roads...
