Has anyone installed hatch locks in the amas?

My preferred system (less visually invasive) would be a lock that acts as a pin securing one of the levers in a closed position (need to make a hole the the hatch and in the lever that would align in a closed position). Not sure what locks are available, a visit to ACE Hardware is in order.

Another alternative is mounting two padeyes on the ama and the hatch and using a padlock.

Anyone?

Search the web for "Ace Key Cam Lock". You can drill a separate hole in the hatch and seal it with rubber washers. I would suggest sealing the key-hole with water-resistant tape when underway.

I actually bought those from ACE, just waited to install them before thanking you, Larry.

Now that one of the existing handles broke off (the stem that goes through the plexiglass twisted off) I am thinking that whoever made those lever locks might have a locking model.

Does anyone know who makes the hatch locks?

I fixed the one that broke with two screws while underway, no big deal, just esthetically less perfect.

On of my hatch handles is broken. I need to replace it with either original or a new locking type.

Does anyone know the manufacturer of the hatch (mine is 2003 920)?

Does anyone know a source for handles in the US?

Are there after-market replacement handles that will fit?

Thanks,
george

The hatches are made by Moonlight. RigRite is the US distributer http://www.rigrite.com/Hardware/Hatch_% ... tches.html

Outside handle... $35 for a single piece of plastic... These custom parts are ready for 3d printing...

Since they are so brittle and I'll need more I'll just replace them with Lewmar. $9.95 for the same part.

Ivan,

do you have the Lewmar part number?

I called RigRite - it's $89 + 11 shipping!

Thanks,

I am thinking http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?pa ... id=1568522

$54/pair

Just need to look at it in person to make sure I understand how it will fit

For a difference of $35/pair why bother? You spend more than that on dinner for one. If you could afford a DF-35 just get the right part.

I can't afford a DF 35!

I have a 11 year old 920!

The difference is $128 for 2 (including shipping). 54 + s/h vs 89*2 + s/h.

I actually found just the outside handle for $10 + s/h.

Still need to confirm that it will fit...

Can report good experience with contacting BSI directly (bsidk.com -- marine -- contact). Bought 10 outside handles at $8/each plus shipping.
